Gibbston Valley Winemaker Dinner 15th October 6.30PM

100.00

Due to the great success of our Opera Dinner Night, we decided to treat you to another great culinary evening. This is something we would like to do more regularly and establish as a very special event featuring not only amazing food and wine but also exceptional guests for an unforgettable experience.

This time, on the 15th of October, no Opera music but the award-winning Gibbston Valley winery as the star of the show with Winemaker Christopher Keys as guest, renowned for his bubbly and hospitable personality.

As one of the region’s founding wineries, Gibbston Valley has earned an incredible reputation and stature over the years, nationally as well as overseas, thanks to their unwavering determination to produce handcrafted premium wines, honouring the traditions that have made them a world-renowned destination since releasing Central Otago's first commercial vintage in 1987.

Alan Brady planted his first vines in Gibbston in the early 1980's despite the popular belief that nothing would come out of it being 45 degrees south of the equator and thus considered too cold for winemaking. Brady trusted his instincts and it has to be one of the best decisions he has ever made. The wine rapidly gained considerable recognition, creating Central Otago's first footprint in the world of winemaking. Soon others followed. What a pioneer Alan Brady!

Gibbston Valley's wines are all unfined, unfiltered and sustainably produced. What they want is to create unique and pure reflections of their ruggedly-beautiful and incredibly diverse surroundings. Their wines are truly amazing showcasing great purity, complexity, concentration and balance. Winning combination!

From 1998 to 2006, Christophe Keys worked in wineries in Hawke’s Bay, the USA and France where he basically took in as much wine knowledge as possible. Since 2006 Christopher oversees the winemaking at Gibbston Valley, often with a camera in hand to engage his other passion, photography.

Although still tweaking with the dishes to achieve the perfect matches, we thought we would reveal the outstanding wine line-up for the night:

*Gibbston Valley Non Vintage Methode Traditionelle
*Gibbston Valley Rose 2018
*Gibbston Valley China Terrace Chardonnay 2016
*Gibbston Valley Le Maitre Pinot Noir 2014
*Gibbston Valley Le Maitre Pinot Noir 2017
*Gibbston Valley Late Harvest Pinot Gris

The full menu will be announced next week!

Expect another magical night when you get to eat delicious food expertly paired with exceptional wines while listening to entertaining and instructive wine commentaries.
